Principal's Message

Dear Miner Family,

It is so hard to believe that just a few months ago we were having to transition to Digital Learning for the remainder of the 19-20 school year. We faced this adversity, made adjustments along the way and “hoped for the best” while “staying safe” in the process.

Here we are about to start another amazing school year (2nd year of Red Top). It will continue to be “uncharted territory”, eerily similar to the end of last year. However, I feel that we, as a MINER Family and a school system, are better prepared than most other school systems to face this challenge. We are offering Traditional (face-to-face) and Distance Learning (Digital) options for our students. You, as a MINER Parent, have the “choice” in making this decision. Red Top Middle and the BCSS will adapt and adjust accordingly. We are just excited to be a part of your child’s education!

We have spent the summer preparing for our new multi-option instructional opening. Will there be bumps along the road (mine shaft for us MINERS)? Yes. Will we do everything in our power to ensure and promote your child’s “Success”? Yes. With this is mind, we ask for your patience in this process and your undying and continued support in everything Red Top and for ALL members of our MINER Family. Our faculty and staff are anxious to meet our incoming 6th grade (Class of 2027) group. Welcome to our MINER Family!

The faculty and staff of RTMS want everyone in the Miner Family to work together to achieve “23…the Standard for SUCCESS” (It takes 23 credits to graduate from high school at AHS, CHS and WHS). We want all of our Miners to understand the expectation of earning credits in high school now while they are at Red Top. We will continue to implement numerous “SUCCESS” initiatives in an effort to motivate and better prepare our students to be successful future Tigers, Colonels and Wildcats.

Doing our best in ALL aspects of middle school life should be a daily goal for all of our Miners at Red Top, no matter which instructional option you choose for your child. I encourage you to connect and stay connected with Red Top Middle School. We want to have strong support from our parents, our students, and our community (our Miner Family). We invite each of you to to become a part of this Family by supporting us with your presence and your loyalty.

Thanks For ALL You Do!

Dr. Wes Dickey
