How does it work in the school?
For the 2019-2020 school year, RTMS is implementing the House System.
The mission of the RTMS middle school house system is to create a middle school community where students work together to support each other throughout the middle school years. As apart of our school-wide PBIS program, the house system will continue to empower students to foster their own success. The purpose of each house is to provide guidance and support for academic, social, and personal development during each student’s time at RTMS.
Each house is comprised of a variety of students from 6th, 7th and 8th grade. The mixed level houses provide the opportunity for the students in the different grade levels to create new friendships, experience leadership opportunities, gain intrinsic motivation through perseverance, and how to work as a team. The house system instills teamwork, friendship, cooperation, and leadership.
Students will be sorted into their houses at a sorting ceremony at the beginning of each school year. Once students have been assigned to a house they will continue to belong to that house for all their years at RTMS. Houses cannot be changed, and new students will be sorted upon their arrival to RTMS. During the first week of school, each house will work together to develop their house crest, motto, mascot, and chant/cheer.
Students and teachers can earn points for their house from behavior, academics, attendance, and extracurricular activities. The house with the most points each month wins the House Cup!
